Burbage Junior School 27th May 2011
The Headmaster of Burbage Junior School, Richard Harris mentioned to us that he would love to hold a fundraising event for KEEPTHEBEAT, and at the same time show the schools support for the Hold On To Our Hearts Campaign for Option A. Richard was extremely passionate about both subjects.
After spending much time planning, on the 27th May the school started the day with a 15 minute workout in the playground for children and parents. Every person that joined in was charged 50 pence. Emily Lowndes and Lilly Rowntree organised a routine and taught this to several friends, and instructed the participants from the front. They all did an great job KEEPingTHEBEAT!
The Event was judged by KEEPTHEBEAT and the most enthusiastic Boy & Girl were awarded KEEPTHEBEAT hoodies. The winners were Martin Cragg and Emily Caver.
At break time the children held a cake sale within the school. All cakes were made by staff or were donated by the families of pupils. Around 1200 cakes were sold within 30 minutes!
Overall this was a hugely successful day , thanks to Richard Harris’s enthusiasm and hard work, and a great amount of support from the Pupils and their families. The day in total raised £523.00

After Lunch 380 children stood in the playground all holding onto hearts, very proudly supporting the Hold On To Our Hearts Campaign. Photographers from the press stood on the roof to get the best shot, and unprompted the children all began chanting KEEPTHEBEAT, KEEPTHEBEAT, KEEPTHEBEAT....
