Logans Day 26th April 2011
Logans Day at The Old Station Nursery, Waterside, Lincoln was a real success. The Red day had a Heart theme running throughout day to fundraise for KEEPTHEBEAT and raise awareness of the 'Hold on to your hearts' campaign to save Glenfield from closure.
The Nursery had a display of Logans Hospital Journey for parents and children to see, as well as Logans hospital diary for people to read, a wall was dedicated to the Hold Onto Your Hearts campaign with posters and decorated hearts made by the children as well as red and blue balloons to co-ordinate with the KEEPTHEBEAT logo.
Fun 'heart' related activities took place such as 'hunt the heart' in the nursery garden and inside for the younger ones, 'pass the heart' instead of pass the parcel, for a donation: parents and staff had to guess how many sweets in the jar, all were asked to dress in red for the day for a donation, Logans mum made KEEPTHEBEAT & Heart cupcakes to sell, in addition to nursery staff making, cakes, gingerbread men decorated with hearts, heart cookies and red playdoh all for donations.
The anagram quiz that was devised with 20 words associated with the heart raised around £100 alone and the Charity Auction which was drawn with sealed bids 2 weeks after Logans Day raised £253.50! Prizes for the Charity Auction were generously donated by PING Europe, Eden Hall Day Spa, The Pink Pig, Rand Farm Park, Water Babies South Yorkshire & Aperture Photography & Design.
In total the day at the nursery raised £397.91 and with the charity auction raising £253.50 donations reached a total of £651.41!!
To appeal to even more family and friends far and wide we set up Logans Fundraising Page online which to date has taken the total raised to £1624.64 truly amazing effort that has far exceeded our expectations and left us touched by the generosity of people.
Logans Day featured on Radio BBC Lincolnshire, TheLincolnite.co.uk and in the Lincolnshire Echo & The Target which helped deliver the important message and raise awareness of the charity & the campaign.
We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts that has contributed to making Logans Day a success, raising a fantastic amount of money for KEEPTHEBEAT and raising awareness of the Hold onto your hearts campaign.
We hope to make Logans Day an annual event for KEEPTHEBEAT with each year getting bigger and better...just like Logan!
